Infertility is the official name for the condition when, despite regular sexual intercourse without contraception, there is no sign of a baby within a year. The incidence of infertility is ever increasing, with the WHO estimating that every 7th couple worldwide are affected. In Hungary, it affects the lives of more than 100 000 couples. Observations show a smaller percentage of both sexes having problems that affect fertility, and couples, where only one party is affected have a higher percentage, but that is equally divided between the sexes.
Infertility can be caused by a variety of factors, it may happen occasionally that anatomical abnormalities, hormonal dysfunctions make it difficult to conceive, genital diseases can be behind it, but very often psychological reasons lead to this condition. The cause of infertility should be sought in both members of the couple. Some of these causes can be present in both men and women, such as genetic disorders, diabetes, thyroid or adrenal disorders, chemicals, excessive alcohol consumption or smoking. Chemotherapy, physical injuries, mutations can also cause infertility. If untreated, the long-term consequences can be mood swings and depression.
Infertility in women can be caused by abnormalities in the uterus, temporary or permanent changes in fallopian tube patency, ovarian dysfunction, endometriosis, ovulation problems, etc., and possibly infections. In addition to age, being overweight or abnormally thin, smoking can also impair fertility, however, stress could be the main cause of infertility, with both sexes affected. In many cases, the causes are not organ related but functional and not permanent. We can expect the outcome to change, if the cause is removed. For example, one or more episodes of ovulatory failure, tubal blockage, lack of implantation, miscarriage, do not mean that it can never change.
Sometimes, the specialist suspects hormone deficiency, varicocele behind it. Sometimes, the amount of sperm being produced is too little or their production is completely blocked. Sometimes, the sperm cells are very slow or, because of their shape, not ideal for fertilisation and they do not develop with a healthy, functional physique. Sometimes, ejaculation fails to occur or it is retrograde, i.e. it goes in the opposite direction, towards the bladder. Often, the cause of infertility cannot be detected: both members of the couple appear to be healthy but the baby does not come. In the absence of an organ abnormality, it is very important to identify what may be causing the woman/man the challenges and stress around having a baby. There may be fears, unspoken worries, questions that, if brought to the surface and talked through, can be resolved. When we are in a state of harmony, it is a convincing sign that fertility is in a good place. By clearing up disturbing causes, we are able to calm down and remove the obstacle to conception.
In case of 'emergency', our body goes into a fight, flight or freeze mode. All our functions are under the control of the nervous system. Symptoms only develop for a reason. It is important to look for a 'cause and effect' until we find it. The hormonal and neurological symptoms of those affected clearly support a state of chronic stress. When stress hormone levels increase, the autonomic nervous system is stimulated to create the most ideal conditions for the individual to 'survive'. There are situations in life that are 'life-threatening' or perceived as such by the nervous system (critical existential issues, relationship difficulties, sexuality concerns, fear, anxiety, etc.) where it is not safe to reproduce, to relax or be calm, because the body has to go into high gear or even shut down completely to 'make it' in the dangerous situation. These states do not allow the initiation of such an energy-intensive process as the carrying a new life, assisting conception.
Finding the causes, current or chronic sources of stress can be assisted by self-awareness, a psychologist or tools such as the Kriston-method, which works on the mind, the body and complex thinking strategies. An essential element of the Kriston Intimate Training is movement, designed to support optimal function of hidden muscles, the urethra, vagina/uterus/prostate/bladder, because tissues and organs with good blood circulation will function ideally. It is worth considering the results that these investments can bring before undergoing complicated medical procedures. Lifestyle changes, combined with alternative therapies, can further increase the chances of success.
With the Kriston Method, we see these chronic stress symptoms as an outcome that we can change. Don't just wait for a solution from the outside! Be an active participant in your fertility health. This short daily exercise routine can be learnt by anyone. It will ensure ideal hormone circulation in your tissues, the best nutrient and oxygen supply, it will improve your relationship with your intimate organs, and it will change your attitude towards sexuality. There is logic behind the symptom. In the training, you will gain insight into your mental processes and scripts, and if you change those to your advantage, combined with the exercise you can achieve your goal. If we want to make a difference, we need to make a change. Don't just look to your doctor for the solution. Even a mechanic can't help you drive a car properly. There are changes that only You can make, but in the end, success will be yours too!
